watie is one of the coolest artist/printmakers i've met in while. he's got great energy and i am lucky to be working with him this summer at the 'omaha print guild' down at hot shops art center. this weekend is quite the huge weekend. beginning with waties open house at his studio: 1904 south 13th friday (today) 3-8pm and saturday 5-9pm. he has a great space full of beautiful paintings and prints. best of luck to watie over the weekend!

i stumbled upon this image yesterday while i was looking through all my bookmarks. it reminds me of a silkscreen i did in undergrad. it comes from 'my little underground' - a website that has a ton of digital prints. the irony of it all was that it was a full moon last night....weird....

saw the foo fighters last week with my good friend kim at the mid-america center. yeah, it rocked, the show made me like them even more than before. they had an acoustic session that was perfect. to hear the greatest triangle solo in the world (i think it's from our show), click here.

last night my family and i went to see some gershwin songs performed at the holland center. i love the gershwin brothers and their beautiful songs. their most famous song is 'summertime' which was covered by janis joplin back in the 60's. but my favorites are 'it ain't necessarily so', 'i've got a crush on you', and 'someone to watch over me'.

last week when i was out in s.f. i kept stumbling upon the wickedest pieces. these were all behind the famous amoeba records on haight street. love it...

i stayed with my very loving friend, ricardo in san francisco. he always takes such good care of me! this was brunch one day, and as you can see he puts his 'heart' into every step of the food process. scrambled eggs with onion, cheese, and tortilla...dreamy.

the perfect sugars. mango, orange, papaya and pastries! i couldn't control myself, i ate it all!!

even the rubbish was beautiful!
thanks for letting me stay with you richardo! love love love!

i have been a fan of robert rauschenberg for many many years now and whenever i see his works i find them so intriguing. i like to figure out how artists make things and his works almost always stump me. i do know that he combines silkscreening with oil painting and he also does amazing assemblages. his work, to me, speaks of pop culture and controlled chaos. as if our worlds are spinning out of control and all we get are these glimpses of imagery. his works are so powerful and beautiful, he is so skilled...

this is the view from my upstairs window. when i'm actually paying attention i'll make sure i look out this particular window at sunset, because it is the most perfect view of the sun, sky and their heavenly glory.
so, tonight, i am 'waiting'. waiting to go to dinner with friends, waiting for my brother and his family to arrive from australia, waiting for steve to come home, waiting for christmas eve, waiting for christmas...
this time of the year is so go-go-go, it's weird to just be waiting.

for the past week, i have been slowly packing up bits and pieces from my parents house and bringing it here to my home. it has been fun rediscovering trinkets and memories. remembering times and places, some good and some bad. these adorable mugs were in a cubby in my old bedroom. i had completely forgotten about these and how my mom and i found them many years ago, i just had to have them back then...and here they were just waiting for me after all these years. i love the illustrations, the simplicity and playfulness. i'm not sure what years these are from but the bottom says "bunnykins" made in england, royal doulton.

last night was our official first 'bowling night'. we were celebrating greg pettersons birthday! usually in the winter months a group of friends get together and bowl it up. this is when the keno drawings emerge. it's hard to resist drawing when there are stacks of paper and crayons laying about all over. i, of course, am terrible at bowling-but- steve and kim are normally get the high points and turkey players. happy birthday, g.p.!
