artist proof (reality)

Reality
there is a group of ladies (nwca) here that wanted to do a printmaking workshop together. the theme of the print was (her)reality or the 5 senses. my brain was in a knot when i first tried to figure out what on earth i could do. so, this what i came up with. what is real? and what is reality? if you can't touch it can you prove it's real? well, this is my 'artist proof' meaning i needed to do a print to make sure the image looked correct.

jordan gaunce

Atlakewatchingboatrace
"at the lake watching the boat race" is acrylic on canvas. jory is a former classmate of mine from the ringling college of art and design. he sent me a sneak peek of his current works the other day and i think his paintings are so beautiful that i wanted to show some of them off!

Trees
"trees" is acrylic on rag board. this is my favorite painting of the bunch. i love the colors and the design! you rock jory!

natalie cole

Nat
i went to see natalie cole last night with my parents and my long time and very good friend jenifer. natalie and her entourage played at the beautiful holland performing arts center, and most of the songs she sang for us pulled on my heart strings throughout the evening. what a great evening!

heart burn

Fire
this the second time i've painted this word/phrase. the first one i did i sold at my solo show at Tops on leavenworth street. this is what my fireplace looks like...pretty snazzy, eh? i like the way the lil heart burning in the wood turned out.

claustrophobic

Claus

here's another little watercolor painting i did in my sketchbook yesterday. this image has been stuck in my head for over a week now, and i just had to get it out! i kept imagining this little sharp edged prickly thing surrounded by these heavy encasing lines...he can't get out, he's not going anywhere...

des moines marathon

Lake
my sister and i at some lake on the des moines marathon course. this was around mile 20 and i had just talked her ear off, in hopes of distracting the both of us. somehow our mom had managed to find us here to snap our photo.

Medals
we made it. we did the whole race. the weather was hot and cold all morning so christy got a heat blanket at the end. here we are with our medals and after race snacks. i was so salty you could have salted a margarita glass on my face.

heart burn (part II)

Fire
this is a watercolor media painting i started the other night. i did a 'heartburn' painting last year, were the heart was painted fairly big and the edges of the paper was burnt. this is a new version of the same word. this painting has quite a bit more work to be done to it, but so far i like the texture in the fireplace bricks... more to come!

after william morris

Wmmorris
thursday i was flipping through my book on william morris and wanted to try and attempt to recreate on of his designs. way back in the 1800's he was a talented designer, writer, and artist. i really admire his talent and style.

dragon II

Dragonii
this is my current painting i'm working on in diane lounsberry-williams tuesday night painting class. it's a second rendition of my first dragon painting that is more realistic looking. this one needs some work, and i'm feeling a bit stuck. it seems to have way too much going on with the lines and the colors...
we'll see what happens with it.
